The Padma Bridge Rail Link Project, the biggest project of Bangladesh Railway. Sponsoring ministry is Ministry of Railways, executing agency is Bangladesh Railway and project period is from 1st January 2016 to 30th June 2024.
The project aims at constructing new railway track (approz.169 Km) from Capital City Dhaka to Jashore via Padma Multipurpose Bridge to establish new Broad Gauge (BG) railway connectivity through south-west part of the country. Total Track length is 215.22 Km including loops and sidings and double lines.
This project also includes Construction of 23.377km viaducts, 66 major bridges, 244 minor bridges/ culverts/ underpass, 1 road overpass (at Mawa approach) and 29 Level Crossings and Construction of 14 new station Buildings and remodeling of 6 exiting station buildings along with Platforms, Platforms Shed, approach roads, functional and residential building for O&M personnel and other allied works
China Railway Engineering Corporation mostly known as CREC had won this project on 8th August 2016. In the year of 2020 Ringtech Ltd. and China Railway Engineering Corporation (CREC) had an agreement to complete bridges/ culverts/ underpass as local subcontractor.
January 2021, Ringtech ltd. has started this project along with CREC.
